The story
Andruw Jones never played for the Hall of Fame. He played to win. For twelve seasons in center field in Atlanta, he treated every ball hit his way as his responsibility, studying hitters and his own pitchers so he knew where the ball was going before it was hit. That preparation earned him a plaque in Cooperstown and made him the first player from Curaçao elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
He credits one idea above all: when an opportunity comes, take it, because it may never come again. It was his father's lesson, and he carried it every time his manager, Bobby Cox, told him, "Do what you do. I trust you."
